See how organisations are transforming their onboarding with BrightBoarding
OCHA is the leading training centre for port workers at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, where hundreds of (new) employees are prepared annually for a safe and competent start in one of Europe's largest logistics hubs.
In a rapidly changing labour market, OCHA needed to modernise their approach to training new port workers. Traditional face-to-face training alone was no longer sufficient to meet the demands of flexible, efficient, and learner-centred education.
OCHA has embraced a modern, hybrid onboarding approach. New port workers no longer follow only traditional face-to-face training but combine practical on-site sessions with online self-study. This allows learning to happen flexibly, efficiently, and in a learner-centred manner. In this hybrid learning experience, core competencies such as safety, teamwork, and technical knowledge are systematically built up—at the participant's own pace and with maximum connection between practice and theory.
As part of this approach, OCHA uses Brightbook to develop and manage digital course materials. With Brightbook, the L&D team at OCHA can create interactive, visually appealing modules that align with the daily challenges of port workers. The tool supports both guided interactive learning during face-to-face sessions and independent online study: participants practise skills, reflect on cases, and receive feedback where and when needed.

Boerenbond is the leading advocacy organisation and knowledge partner for farmers and horticulturists in Flanders. With a broad scope of activities and a wide diversity of roles, strong, consistent onboarding of new employees is essential to help them settle quickly and effectively within the organisation.
With diverse functions and varying entry points throughout the year, Boerenbond needed an onboarding solution that could accommodate different learning needs while maintaining consistency across the organisation. They required a structured yet flexible approach to introduce new colleagues to the mission, values, and culture of Boerenbond.
To introduce new colleagues efficiently and with quality, Boerenbond has adopted a hybrid onboarding approach. New employees combine face-to-face introduction moments, such as welcome days and team days, with online self-study. This gives them insight into the mission and values of Boerenbond, the organisational culture, internal processes, and their role within the broader whole—in a flexible and structured way. This approach allows learning to be spread over time and accommodates different entry moments and learning needs.
For the development of onboarding courses, Boerenbond uses Brightbook. With this authoring tool, the HR and L&D team develops interactive and visually clear learning modules that activate new employees from day one. Brightbook supports both guided learning during contact moments and independent online study, with attention to practical examples, reflection, and tailored knowledge building. This ensures Boerenbond delivers a consistent onboarding experience that strengthens engagement and makes new employees productive faster.
